Absolutely nothing. (Repeat)
Readers recognize that having a clear winner and a clear loser during nuclear war time is moot. Although "Who won the war?" Is the novel's unanswerable question threaded throughout, Frank's response is portrayed, rather than stated outright. Some of the book's characters react with greed, some with anger, others with naïveté. As many have pointed out, this book was written many years ago when fear of nuclear war was at its height. While some of the dated dialogue was a bit of a puzzle (who is Clara Bow and what is an eight cylinder huff?), the actions and attitudes (about race and women) were part of the time frame in which the story occurs.
