I remember this book from high school English as the one my classmates would all pick from selected reading lists because it was short, then whine about that choice a few weeks later because it was "boring."
I'm just going to say it: this book should not be taught in schools.

Things Fall Apart follows Okonkwo, a strong man with a good life. Things begin to change, however, when he takes in a boy named Ikemefuna. This sets in motion a chain of events which no one could have predicted, and which leads to Okonkwo's downfall.
Things Fall Apart not only explores a single man's journey through life, but also the changing of the rural African landscape in the late 19th century.
