The blurb was misleading, as I thought this would be a bit more tongue-in-cheek... or something. I'm also not sure about Murdoch as a proponent of gays and lesbians, as the characters in this book are not exactly pro-gay themselves. We'll see, though, once I read A Fairly Honourable Defeat, which Garth Greenwall claimed in his NYRB article on Hide to have a great portrayal of a gay marriage.
