I clearly have a very strong love/ hate relationship with classics. There are moments of true brilliance in the book and no one can take that away from it. Nonetheless, I can't help that throughout the novel I just wanted the explosive to blow up and be done with it. I enjoyed the writing style but not the actual content. Just left me meh.

I can better understand why this style got parodied alot in later years.

Hemingway's deceptively simplistic style is utilized to its utmost in this novel. ...more
