2021 Seven years has seen me to be of the same age as Anne. I don't know if that similarity or to a greater appreciation of the satire and sentimentality inside caused me to enjoy it better this time, but I inhaled it this read through. Although, one person did have a good point; it is easier to deal with reading about the Mary and Elizabeths of the world if you aren't dealing with them daily as well.

I loved this "last work" of Jane Austen. Northanger Abbey was published after her death. The more I read by her the more I enjoy them. I love that her characters are well-developed and entertainingly flawed. There is so much humor in her writing and it comes from the foibles of the characters. Do you feel that??? That is the earth shaking to it's core at the realization that 'Pride & Prejudice' is no longer my favorite Jane Austen novel-- this one is.
I have put off reading this book for so long because I had P&P, and does one need more?? I can honestly say: if you love P & P, but are slightly closer to 30 (or more)than you are a teenager, then 'yes'.

I thought this Austen book was going to be more romantic (The whole book these two people are having 8 years of pent-up, angsty feelings for each other and trying to figure them out.) but really its about a woman forced to hang out with snobby, entitled, incompetent, rich people...wishing she could hang out with people who are more like her (as in, not idiots...)
