I was completely captivated by Wang Lung and O-lan and their attempts to build a happy life. I could not put this book down. It is beautiful.

This is the first book of pearl bucks that I have had the pleasure of reading and I shall definitely be checking out some more of her work. The main character was difficult to warm to but I feel that made the story more interesting.
