I tried to read "War and Peace" in college, but gave up on it somewhere around the first long battle sequence, but always sort of regretted having done so. When I signed up for the Historical Fiction reading challenge on paperbackswap this year and saw the "Play it Again Sam" challenge, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to make myself actually finish the book. I just finished The Brother of Karamazov and now, I am having a hard time getting into this book. The beginning is full of sensual descriptions of superficial looks, and etiquette of aristocratic society, which I couldn't care less. Someone complained the book was full of history but actually, the history part is the only part that appears interesting to me.
If the book is full of this kind of content I am about to quit. Well, considering how famous this book is I may not, that could be my weakn ...more
