This book is amazing! Celie is a beautifully honest, sincere and heartbreaking character. This epistolary novel is set in the 1930s poverty stricken American South. Naive Celie is only 14 years old when her self-centered "Pa" rapes her; she ends up pregnant twice (by "Pa" and the man he forced her to marry).
