I read this book because it was the book my youngest son read for his library group and because I enjoyed Thurber's "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" when I was in elementary school. This was an interesting take on a fairy tale and the lyrical language made it a fun read. I understand why my 8 year old found it challenging on occasion.
