Not to give too much away, this was a great war book. It lived up to all expectations, and was really sad. I think it portrayed the fact that there is no real "glory" in war. Bring tissues, it will make you cry.

5 stars! This ranks up there as one of my favorites. Beautifully written, powerful, haunting, emotional and a true depiction of war. I loved this book! Although this was about a german soldier, Paul Baumer, during World War 1, it represents the effects of war on all soldiers. This is definitely one of the greatest novels of all time in my opinion. I truly applaud the author Erich Maria Remarque. Highly recommend this one to anyone that hasn't read it.
