The Count of Monte Cristo was one of the last books I finished in 2022 and I was lucky to read it alongside some fabulous bookstagrammers, invoking discussions that just added to a perfect reading experience.

God knows that I relish revenge tales. Probably the idea that every wrong can be avenged, every wrong-doer can be brought to justice, not by praying helplessly to God, but by intricate plotting and adept execution - that's an idea that placates my heart. This deluxe edition of The Count of Monte Cristo, written by Alexandre Dumas deserves the honor of such successes today as, War and Peace, Les Miserable, and Madame Bovary. Consisting of four volumes and 1,193 pages and 35 different characters.
Dumas tells us the story about trust, betrayal, honesty, and deceit, imprisonment and escape. This whole masterpiece becomes about revenge.
But by the end of this novel we learn its about a whole lot more. And all we have to do is wait and hope.
