I read this book as a kid. I would be interested to try reading it again as an adult. The wordiness of Dickens is difficult to get through, but his story telling is the best, his characters come alive, he is a master at making you care about what happens in the story. I always think of Oliver Twist whenever I think of making a character vulnerable, in order to engage the reader with concern over what happens to him. This was my first time reading Oliver Twist and was really surprised that it was for a much more mature audience than I had previously thought. Most of the movie adaptations I've seen, really tone down the social aspects of the novel. Most of them just focus on Fagin and his thieves in a comedic way, which Dickens portrays as much more sinister and evil in his novel. Of course, you can expect everything tied up neatly at the end, as is common with Dickens. I highly recommend this book.
