This was a humorous, but dark read. I really enjoyed it. The narrator reminds me of a good friend of mine. I shall have to recommend him this book.

Sometimes funny, sometimes emotional, this is a very touching novel. We follow the coming of age of young Charlie and, to a certain extent, his friends, in the not so distant world of the 1990s. Personnally, I was really drawn to Charlie, his high intelligence and his sensitivity, and some of the things written really resonated in me.

I expected a different ending, but that one was brilliantly executed, although I wish we could have followed our protagonists a little while longer.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Its well written and you could relate to the characters. Normally, I do not like books like this and almost didnt read it.

I enjoyed this book as a teen for it's earnestness, and as a springboard to find great books, music and movies.
I enjoyed re-reading it today for it's subtle and gentle portrayal of depression, anxiety, and coping with emotional trauma.
Either way, for such a short "easy" book, there's plenty of value in picking it up.
