It was a fun read. No difficult words. It even featured actual songs. Listening to the songs while reading the novel helps me get a feel of the story. Also, although the usage of language/ words was toned down, the message is still meaningful. In fact, there are lots of memorable quotes in the story.

Shelves: smells-like-teen-spirit, for-love-of-books-and-reading, male-pov, dear-journal, protagonist-grows-on-you, every-kid-needs-a-carla, awesome-cool-girl, break-your-heart-kind-of-story, all-for-one-and-one-for-all, started-ok-ended-awesome

I read this for the second time again before watching the movie, and ended up keeping my rating as it was. This book is good, and I grew to love the characters in it, but it's not one that captured and delivered new insights to me, and I felt like I could never truly get past how naive and innocent this 9th grade Charlie was.
