This book was wonderful, but not what I expected. It's about the relationship between two boys growing up in Afghanistan in the 1970's. One boy is the son of a rich man, and the other boy is the son of the rich man's servant. They are very close in age, and very close friends, but there is always a wall between then based on their status. They are like brothers, but still, their different life situations rule their relationship.
