I was a bit confused by the book to start with but it made me curious enough to keep going. I really liked the world building and found it very interesting.
However at the point where Jonas finds out about releasing I felt the whole book changed. It seemed like the author had given up on the book and was trying for a quick way out. I would have given this book 3 or 4 stars if not for the ending. It just ruined the book for me.

I loved this book. I loved the idea behind this book, I loved how it was written. It's quite short, to the point, apparently there's more books after that to learn more about this world (which I'd love to), but even without them it would work.
I'm not planning on watching the movie however, I'm pretty sure they've messed up the adaptation (it's not an easy book to adapt for the screen), and also I hate that they aged up the characters.

Read this in middle school and I thought it was awesome. Looked through a friend's reading list and noticed there is a loose trilogy and a new release in Oct. I think this deserves a second reading. :-)
