worth it for the intro where the man speaks directly to you, dear reader. And he's pretty spot on when critiquing these stories.
if you're not keen on the 2nd law of thermodynamics loving, rocket science digressing, linguistic information theory grappling Pynchon but feel he can write like no other, then The Secret Integration is for you. Not only the best story here but one of the best stories I've read in a long time.

I give this book three stars for three reasons. Ain't symmetry grand?
1. The introduction. One of the few glimpses into the true and raw machinations of Pynchon's mind. Unless his "estate" releases letters and other musing upon the inevitable, this is the most we'll have for awhile.
2. Under The Rose. Sure, he polished it up for V. It definitely works better and is a lot more clever in its chapter form. It's nice though to see such brilliance taking form.

Nice early collection of short stories
He seems a pretty quick study to me. Enjoyed these even more this time around.
I guess I can't give TP anything less than a five.
