This was the first book I read as part of my 2017 reading of epics initiative. I read it along with the audiobook which turned out not to be read by George Guidall but rather by Jonathon Reese. The voice sounded like Guidall and everywhere on the internet indicated him but at the end the recording announced it was Reese. Shelves: favorites, all-time-favourite

Mason & Dixon is my introduction to Thomas Pynchon and it is sublime. This book is best savoured slowly and it gives back what you put in to read it. There are so many times I laughed out loud or was just blown away by the profound power and beauty of the prose. There is something to enjoy on every page. This is my desert island book!

Finally finished Mason & Dixon. This is an extremely weird book - but that's in a most positive sense. Strange missions subjecting M&D to paranoid consternation about "why" and what forces have put them up to it. Tall tales, very peculiar incidents, fantastical excursions, incredible beings human and otherwise, etc. - all in the Pynchonian style.
