I just...ugh. I wanted to love this SO MUCH. To me, it reminded me of The Goldfinch, but you all know how much I love the Goldfinch. This doesn’t even compare in the instance of losing a parent (or parents) and the narrative that comes after.

The relationship between Edward and Shay seemed too far fetched because no matter what, no one makes friends that quick as a 12 year old. No one.

I would be willing to read another Ann Napolitano book though. I enjoyed her writing, just not the plot.

This is a book that wasn't easy for me to read yet I liked it a lot. The story is about Edward Adler, who along with his family took a flight to Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the flight never reached its destination, it suffered a fatal accident. Edward is the only survivor, his aunt Lacey adopts him and now he has to adapt to his new life. Lacey's neighbors help Edward heal those emotional wounds the accident caused him and to continue living his life. It is an amazing book that touched me a lot. ...more

I stayed up way to late to finish #dearedward by @annnapolitano last night! I’m giving it 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️stars! Friends I’m not sure what it was this book that had me compulsively obsessed with this book, (Maybe the fact that I drove 2 hrs out of town to apply to get a flight attendant last week 🤷🏼‍♀️🛩), that I was kinda freaked out, a little. The story is about a plane that crashes killing every one of the 192 souls on board except for 1, a 12 year old boy named Edward. Edward was flying with his p ...more

we meet several interesting and sympathetic characters on the doomed flight, along with some of the loved ones they left behind + sole-survivor edward is a broken-hearted little boy who slowly learns how to live again with the help of his new, cobbled-together family + in spite of the deep sadness this book generates, it is ultimately hopeful and healing

I feel as though this may be another unpopular opinion, but I didn’t love Dear Edward. It was a fine read, and I’m glad I read it, but it didn’t grip me as much as I wanted/expected it to. It could be that my timing in reading it is just poor coming off of several other tragic/heartbreaking stories.

Dear Edward is the story of Edward Adler, a 12 year old boy who is the sole survivor of a horrific plane crash. He loses his parents and brother in the crash, and goes to live with his aunt and uncle

BOOK REVIEW

Do not wait as long as I did to read this haunting, hopeful story. Imagine this: a plane takes off from NJ bound for CA and crashes in CO—191 people die, a 12 year old is the sole survivor.
🕊For a story about a devastating plane crash, this book is full of life. Yes, it is heartbreaking. And difficult to consider a worst case scenario playing out where you have no control over the outcome and cannot protect your children. This is why I avoided

Wow, this was such a good book!! This has been on my TBR list for way too long, so I finally decided to read it, I only wish I read it sooner! This is such a powerful read on grief, love, loss, and healing. This book featured such amazing characters, and it felt so realistic. I could only imagine how I’d feel if I was Edward. This book isn’t like anything I’ve read before, and it’s not something I usually gravitate to. But it was just so good, I’m so glad I finally read it. If you haven’t read i ...more
