This book was wonderful! I liked the premise from the get go and the ending was truly shocking. The "silent patient" was very intriguing and while I never really felt a connection with her, I had to know what happened that made her snap. I loved the twists and how it made you think you had it all figured out just to completely prove you wrong. The characters weren't super relatable and I did get bored with it at parts but overall this was a solid thriller. Definitely worth a read and you can pro ...more

A good twist! But characters that I feel still needed more depth; there were some that got that necessary depth far too late. Honestly didn’t care much for the continued “childhood trauma underlies all of our present issues” approach, but it’s true to some extent! Liked the idea that we hurt people in ways that we don’t know how deeply it’ll impact them.

A fun commuting read.

Wow! This was an excellent thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Did Alicia really kill her husband? Well, all we know is that she hasn’t spoken since that night and has been found guilty and is now in a psychiatric hospital where Theo is now working.

Yes, Theo is her psychiatrist. The ever eager, I think I can get her to talk to me therapist. The one with his own issues to deal with. This one will leave you trying to figure out right up until the end who killed Alicia’s husband.

Who doesn't love a psychological thriller about an artist who may or may not have shot her husband in the head five times and never said a word after the fact?!

This book consumed me when I was not reading it; I couldn't stop thinking about it. Kept me guessing the whole way. A definite recommend.

This was such a good physiological thriller! And with the short chapters it felt like a fast read. There were so many things I feel like I should have picked up throughout the book but didn’t realize how it was connected until the twist at the end. The plot was written very well, and I enjoyed the writing style as I never wanted to put the book down. I liked how the story was told through Theo’s POV but with some of Alicia’s diary entries. It made it feel like she had a voice even though she was ...more

Oh my word, I can’t even wrap my head around what I just read! I’ve seen such high praise for this book, and it did not disappoint. This book will completely boggle your mind!

This book starts off with Alicia being convicted for shooting her husband in the face, five times. Since the murder, Alicia has not spoken a single word. Alicia is a resident at The Grove, a psychiatric hospital in London.

Then there’s Theo, who narrates the whole story. Theo is a criminal psychotherapist who becomes obsesse

This book is so amazing that I couldn't put it down, it made me feel numerous emotions such as stress and dismay for Alicia Berenson. The writer begins by describing Alicia's chaotic situation, she was sentenced to prison for allegedly murdering her husband. After several years in prison she stopped talking, because of that she was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. In this place a new recruit, Theo Faber, narrates the events, he is a well-known psychotherapist, he has Alicia as a patient. He w ...more

I didn’t see the twist until the very end. I really enjoyed this book. It’s one I think I literally would have read straight through in one day before I had kids. Worth the read!!!

Especially given this is a debut novel, this book deserves the hype. Is the twist going to fool everyone? Definitely not. But it was well done, certainly better than others with similar twists, as were the interchanging perspectives and the ultimate punch at the end.
