I was fully prepared to give this book a low rating, the ending COMPLETELY redeems it. I've generally been finding a lot of these thrillers very formulaic and predictable, with either unoriginal or far too convoluted twists, but this one genuinely surprised me. The ending tied up the book nicely, had me refreshing my memory of the first ~2/3, and made the entire plot and set up make so much sense. Stick with this one- it's worth it.

This book was mediocre at best. It's a thriller, so you know there is a plot twist coming, and no, it's not anyone you are thinking of. At the same time the story is predictable and underdeveloped. Please don't compare this to Gone Girl. It doesn't come close. I appreciated the attempt at the allusion to Alcestis, but there was really no point to it in the end. It's a bland book and as another reviewer said, it's a book you'll forget about as soon as you put it down.

This is a psychological thriller about a psychiatric patient who has refused to speak since the death of her husband and the therapist who is trying to reach her. However, there’s much more to the story than this. Every major character has issues that might cause you to mistrust them and there are a couple of major twists in the story, as well.

Holy cow! This one went extremely quickly because I couldn't put it down! Twists and turns in plot without the gruesome details of other thrillers I've read made this one a 5 star read! Amazing!

Between love and madness lies obsession...
Reading this book made me think of that quote from the old Calvin Klein Obsession ads. It was something that stuck in my head after I read this book late into a Friday evening. It unnerved me and I couldn't stop reading. This book is everything a good thriller should be. I love reading thrillers/mysteries for the escape from the real world. I like the rollercoaster ride. It's like being inside the funhouse rides of long ago, sitting in the dark, waiting ...more
