This book right here is the reason why I so patiently roam Amazon and Goodreads, looking for new and undiscovered authors, why I put up with a lot of really bad books in the hopes they will lead me to something like this.

The Marriage Bargain is a good romance book. The kind that is hard to find these days. Most books that hide under the Romance banner are erotica books in disguise. This book right here is the reason why I so patiently roam Amazon and Goodreads, looking for new and undiscovered authors, why I put up with a lot of really bad books in the hopes they will lead me to something like this.

The Marriage Bargain is a good romance book. The kind that is hard to find these days. Most books that hide under the Romance banner are erotica books in disguise. So finding something that is what I call a true romance book...well...it feels like I found a precious gem.

More often than not, romance books dive right into bed with the characters, and from then on it feels like you're in a sex-marathon. Oh the authors do try to weave in a plot of some kind, but too often if falls flat.

In The Marriage Bargain the UST (unresolved sexual tension) is so heavy it makes you want to grab the characters and shake them until they come to their senses. I love that we have to get through more than half the book before anything more than heavy makeout sessions happen. Best of all, none of their sexual encounters are too graphic. A lot is left to the reader's imagination. Honestly, there is nothing sexier than that. Erotica has its time and place, but a true romance is always a win.

Speaking of romance, I love that the questions about love aren't resolved until the very end of the book. There are no boring moments that make you reach out for another book to read. Ms Probst spins a tale that makes it impossible to put the book down. And yes, I'll manage just fine on only 3 hours of sleep... :D

I have browsed by this book many, many times. The reason why I didn't stop by this book until now, is the cover. It's a gorgeous picture, so it's not that. But I just don't like it as a book-cover. I find it offputting. I like to find out for myself through reading what the characters look like, and a cover like that gets in the way of that. But it kept on popping up on my browsing through Amazon books, so I caved and read the blurb. The blurb is what was the real seller for me.

Thanks to a very good summary, I picked up this book. And annoyance over cover aside, I'm exstatic I've read this.

Even if you're like me, and none too crazy about the cover, read the blurb, then read the book. If you're tired of all the marathon-sex that most books seem to be full of, pick up this one. This is a feel-good book. Snuggle up in front of a fire, with a hot coffee, tea, or cocoa, and escape into the world of Ms Probst. You won't regret it. ...more

This is the first time I read anything from this author, and I really enjoyed The Marriage Bargain! I liked that Alexa and Nick knew and poked fun at each other as kids. The story is well rounded with funny, touching, and steamy moments with lots of tension between the H/h. I loved how their “marriage” gradually blossomed into something more, especially since they butted heads right from the beginning. I can see why there is interest in this book becoming a movie. What a fantastic, romantic read. I loved the characters and the storyline, but will also admit that the cover and title is what originally drew me in to look at this book further. The characters are well developed with nice depth. You feel like you know them and feel their joy and pain, but I also enjoyed the humor and quirks the author added to this book. J.Prost made this a fun read! The sexual tension J.Prost weaves into this story is also very sexy and hot! Very sexy indeed.

The Marriage Bargain by J.Probst is highly engaging, very emotional... a romantic love story that draws you in from page one. Nick Ryan needs to find a wife in order to fulfill his uncle Earl's terms set forth in his will to inherit his architect company and Alexa McKenzie needs to acquire a large sum of money(150K) to save her family's home. The solution to both their problems is a marriage arrangement on paper only. This isn't as easy as they thought, as the sexual tension and passion arise whenever they are together, but they have their share of ups and downs and things almost get lost in the mix, so she decides to cast a spell on him, but eventually let fate take its due course. Nick only wants to be in this relationship for the required time, as he doesn't think he would be a good husband to Alexa or any woman. His childhood has been a battleground and he is tired of the war going on between his parents. This part of the book was sad, but I still wanted to believe the best for him and Alexa just the same.

I loved that both Nick and Alexa are strong willed, not afraid to speak their mind. I'm always drawn to people like this. I adored the scene with the stray animals...had me cracking up laughing! I also loved how Nick loved the animals, and she the Mets, I found myself cheering this couple on and had hoped they would be together! What can I say, but that I'm a romantic at heart and love a good HEA!

Nick and Alexa are characters you won't soon forget and I look forward to reading more from this author. ...more

I highly recommend this book, not just for fans of category romance, but for anyone who's looking for a quick-paced, engaging, sexy and "life-like" romance.
Let me explain.
The"marriage of convenience" storyline is one of my favorites. When you add in that Alexa and Nick also were childhood friends...well, what you get is the promise of an original story--and Jennifer Probst doesn't disappoint. There were no cliches; I was never bored; the story was never predictable.

Fast, easy read. Just a cute, sweet predictable romace novel. The fighting and teasing between Nick and Alexa was fun. I laughed out loud at a couple of scenes. Definate heat between them. Really liked the ending.

What a brilliant book this is!

A classic marriage of convenience story brought right up to date with two compelling protagonists and the overflow of an animal rescue centre. This book will make you laugh out loud at points and wring your heart out at others. I loved it.
