A return to form by Jeanette Winterson. Yes, some may question this book as a retread of the material for "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit." But it's more than that, as the perspective that Winterson's gained over the years allows her more understanding of her mothers (especially Mrs. Winterson) and, ultimately, of herself.

This is a bracing, sad, and lovely book. Great read as a double-header with Alison Bechdel's "Are You My Mother?"
