What Members Thought

IT'S A MUST READ. I really don't want to say anything because I don't want to spoil it for you guys out there who haven't read this yet. Just. Wow. What an experience it will be for you. Tessa's writing is superb, and she's one of the best writers out there. The entire Spindle Cove series is just too amazing for words, so if you haven't yet, read A Night To Surrender and A Week To Be Wicked and I guarantee you'll fall in love with it just as you will for A Lady By Midnight. <3

Kate Taylor, music teacher, is the heroine of the third Spindle Cove novel. She's got a mysterious past she can't remember, having been raised as a charity pupil, and her hero - Corporal Thorne - knows who she is, even if she doesn't (and he's not telling).
There are many shades of Jane Eyre in this book - the charity school, the impoverished music teacher, the long-lost relatives, and the levelling of social status (although there are no crazy wives tucked up in the attics - everyone in the Cove ...more

I enjoyed this latest installment in the spindle cove series. I enjoyed reading a regency that was not necessarily about a duke or an earl. ;) The characters were engaging, the plot moved along quickly, and I loved the Annastasia twist to the story. Kate was a perfect heroine and the end of the story was the most creative story conclusion I have read in quite a while. I look forward to reading the rest of the stories in the series.

Compared to the first two books of this series, I liked this one the least. I liked the premise of the story and that we finally learned how Thorne knew Kate. Yet, I couldn't enjoy this love story the way I enjoyed the others - I think I just got tired of the "I'm not good enough for you" conversations because there were a LOT of them. I also didn't like the ending and the epilogue really didn't clear things up - yes they are happy, but what does Samuel do? He and Evan are best buds?? My only ho

Kate Taylor and Corporal Thorne have been at each others' throats since the latter arrived in Spindle Cove a year hence. Kate did everything she could to befriend Thorne, and Thorne did everything he could do avoid Kate. The book alternates between both their PoV. It was nice to see a more in-depth examination of these two characters, who were slightly lackluster in previous books in the series. Before A Lady By Midnight, we knew that Thorne is an honorable man with a shadowy past, but ...more

Not my favorite of the series, but still a great read. Kate and Thorne's relationship was overly angsty at some points. There was a brief period where I suspended my beliefs about the time period, but Spindle Cove is so loveable, I rolled with it. The introduction of the Gramercys was delightful, I love Colin, Minvera, Bram, and Susanna and the HEA was sweet enough to give me cavities. Looking forward to the next one.

I am really enjoying this series. TD mixes humor and romance with just the right amount of spice to keep it interesting. Her heroines are typically strong minded women, no shrinking violets to be found here. The men are handsome, honorable and of course fantastic lovers.
I cant wait to read Beauty and the Blacksmith!
