I've read quite a few serial killer type books because I find the psychology fascinating so I was interested in the Gretchen Lowell books since they focused on a female serial killer. I have to tell you, this book was definitely better than the vast majority of serial killer type books that I've read. It was SO good. I was so impressed with this book - it was well written, the storyline was compelling and the characters were outstanding!

Intense. Lots of interesting characters, twisting and curving plots, strange emotional relationships that are difficult to understand, and one Gretchen Lowell. I can see why so many people enjoy this thriller/mystery series - it's also refreshing to see a woman as the "bad guy" instead of the victim for a change.
I listened to this on audio, which had very good narration, but I had a hard time staying focused b/c of other happenings in my life at the time of reading.

I did not love this book. As far as murder mysteries go, this one was pretty run of the mill. It was pretty gruesome, and this relationship between Archie (cop) and Gretchen (psychopathic killer) is interesting, but it is not the crux of this book and I'm not intrigued enough to keep reading.
