Shelves: four-and-five-star

You will either love it or be annoyed by the style--obviously, I loved it. I also loved The Night Circus. The writing is a similar style.

This book is not one to be rushed through. The descriptive words are to be savored. The author has a reverence for stories and books that devoted readers share. She is wonderfully imaginative and really draws the reader into her stories. The characters were interesting and layered and the storylines rich and complex.

There was a great deal of skipping from place to place and story to story, but there is a reason for that. Keep reading to discover if or when or how pieces may fit together.

This is the like the hardest, but most gorgeous escape room you've ever been in. As with The Night Circus, this is beautifully written. The descriptions of the places are magic and majestic. But, the characters pretty flat and honestly I'm not sure what happened. There is a plot, but search me if I know what it is.
