This novel held lots of promise for me as I love all of Barbara Kingsolvers work. I was duly excited when I found the story contained the characters of Frida and Diego Rivera. However, sigh, there were parts that just got lost to me when I was reading some of the correspondence of Mr. Shepard. So for about 200 pages in there it was tough but it was laying the ground for the end. I stuck with and I am glad I did but I would say that not all BK fans will.
