I loved this book, I looked forward to reading it during the quiet afternoons, and just before sleep. I taught myself to embroider when my mother inherited some floss and stamped projects from her Aunt Ella, along with hand-made quilts. I’ve made presents for many people, tablecloths & various other things. Quick, pleasurable read for Anglophiles and fans of The Crown. I enjoyed curling up with this story, which alternated between the past and present, and the lives of two of the women who embroidered Princess Elizabeth's wedding gown.

Another wonderful historical fiction novel - and I loved that it was about one of the royal weddings and the women who made the wedding gown. I enjoyed reading the author's notes on how the idea of this book came to her, her research, and her subsequent interview with one lady who actually worked in the sewing room of Hartnell - the designer chosen to make the gown.

This was definitely the right book for this moment. A generally light read about an enduring friendship between two women who worked on Princess Elizabeth's wedding dress in 1947. Despite the cover talkers, it's not really about the dress; it's a central setting for the book, but is not a primary plot point.
