It wasn't absolutely terrible. I definitely learned some things about the author. But overall, it had a lot of typical biography problems. Worst was the authors overuse of footnotes, which I guess he thought was some kind of tribute to DFW. But, while Wallace's use of footnotes may have sometimes been a little annoying, one could understand the reasoning behind them, whereas Max's footnote use often seemed completely superfluous. Also, I think bios are best when the author sticks to the facts. W

I read this because I haven't yet mustered the energy to embark on Infinite Jest. It was an interesting read, though maybe what I liked most about the book was the title.
