WHOA. That's what I said out loud as I finished Sins & Needles, along with "You've got to be kidding me?! It can't end this way. I need the next book ASAP!"

This was my first Karina Halle book and it will definitely NOT be my last! This book blew me away! It has a very unique story line with con artist, drug lords, and mob members, which I LOVED. It was dark and gritty and just intriguing. Sins & Needles kept me on my toes and outsmarted me often.

Gosh darn it, now I have no idea what to feel. I think reading the prequel 'On Every Street' changes how you read this book. The timing and the order is everything. If I had read this book first, as it was released first, I would have been completely on Team Camden. I would have hated Javier the entire ride. But having read that prequel first, I was still team Javier the whole time. Now I realize this makes me a sick and twisted individual, but it's true nonetheless. I also think if I had read t Gosh darn it, now I have no idea what to feel. I think reading the prequel 'On Every Street' changes how you read this book. The timing and the order is everything. If I had read this book first, as it was released first, I would have been completely on Team Camden. I would have hated Javier the entire ride. But having read that prequel first, I was still team Javier the whole time. Now I realize this makes me a sick and twisted individual, but it's true nonetheless. I also think if I had read this book first, I would have hated Ellie. She was a selfish liar in this book and even when she felt badly about what she did, she was never apologetic, and she made excuses for herself. But because I read OES first, I think I excused all the things I disliked about her because I understood her better. However this book threw out some serious curve balls that I just don't know what to make of.

Having read the prequel first, my feeling the entire time was that Javier wants Ellie back because he loves her, not because he wants to kill her because of the car and the money. Had I read this book first, I'd be convinced he just wanted her dead. But with everything Javier did in this book, killing uncle Jim, not really seeming remorseful at all about cheating of Ellie (yet)... not that we even know if he knows that's why she left... it's all just hard to be sympathetic toward him now. But for some reason, I still am!! Some dark and twisted place in my brain still wants Javier to redeem himself.

I liked Camden, hearing the tragic history of both of them in high school brought me to tears more than once. I love his quirkiness, his hot eccentricities. I liked him. But having the ex wife and the son and knowing Ellie's true history with Javier never really allowed me to commit fully to their relationship. I never bought into a happy ending for Camden and Ellie. At least not yet... I predict my mind being changed over and over in the upcoming books as this story continues.

This series is impossible to put down, impossible to abandon mentally even after you finish. I woke up this morning with a Javier hangover and I can see now that I won't be able to let this book go for quite a while. Can't wait for whatever is next!!! ...more

This is a must read. Karina Halle has this awesome ability to make bad characters loveable and I fell in love with Ellie and Camden. Even when things went haywire, I still loved them. There are a few quotes that made me stop and take a breath (literally)

"You're not bad, Ellie. The world is bad and you're just trying to survive in it."

and

"Beautiful, sad, wounded, and lost," he continued. "A freak, a work of art, a liar, and a lover."

I have sat down on three different occasions to put together a review for this book, and I can't put into words my exact thoughts. Every once in awhile I will read a book that will literally render me speechless. That's this book. This book won me over in many ways. I fully admit it took a little doing to get me interested in this book. The first couple chapters, I didn't really understand the format (it goes back and forth between the present with Ellie and the past with "The Girl"), but once I figured out what was going on, it was smooth reading (and the flashbacks had a green-tinged color in my imagination. Blame the color of the cover).

I held off reading Sins & Needles (#1) until after On Every Street (#.5) came out, which I recommend if you have yet to read Sins & Needles. I sometimes find myself connecting enough with characters that I can feel the emotions they're experiencing. Well with this read, I had a somewhat more hands-on experience because I found myself thinking that had I been in Ellie's shoes I'd do similar to what she had done...scary, righ ...more

5 Stars. I am trying my best to understand the emotions, trying to put into words how I feel after finishing Sins and Needles. I am most definitely stunned, very much overwhelmed with this beautifully written novel. Dark, with twists and turns, and so much character development. I am going back for more from author Karina Halle.
