I am really enjoying this series, Scorched Skies picks up where Smokeless fire left off. Ari suffers a life changing loss, and finds out that the White King is not the only one who wants her. So Ari, Jai, and Charlie, who is a newly turned Sorcerer, team up again to try to survive in the Jinn world. There is still tension between the three of them, but it - the love triangle - is handled well. I cannot wait for the third book!
Wow. It was excellent. I cannot wait to read more about this series with Borrowed Ember. I don't know about anyone else, but this whole time I thought the character on the cover was Jai, and then in the acknowledgments Samantha states that it is actually Charlie. This is nothing like what I imagined Charlie to look like and exactly what I imagined Jai to look like... so I'm sticking with the idea that the cover is a picture of Jai. :)

Holy crap! Loved this -well developed characters, cool use of mythology, and romance. I'm a HUGE fan of this author now.
