I am officially a Patrick Hayward fan! You wouldn’t be able to tell it from the very beginning, but this guy is funny, charming, sarcastic, flirty, but a gentleman, and sweet. Patrick is getting over heartbreak. He has spent a month holed up in his brothers guest room when his dad insists he goes to college. Patrick is getting over heartbreak. He has spent a month holed up in his brothers guest room when his dad insists he goes to college. He packs up and heads to Stanford. The first few weeks he is there, school is not a priority. Checking out girls however, totally is. That is how he meets Emma. She gives him a little piece of her mind. He decides he wants Emma, but there is a problem. His name is Ty- her possessive ass of a boyfriend. Not only that, but she has 4 overprotective older brothers.

 Luck would be on Patrick’s side when he starts attending his classes and gets paired with Emma on an unconventional school project about love. They are forced to go on ‘dates’ and spend time together. You can tell they are both starting to fall hard for each other, but Ty is still in the way. It is hard to understand why an awesome girl like Emma would chose to spend six years of her life with a tool like Ty, but after reading the whole book and getting Emma’s back story, you start to understand. Patrick and Emma become good friends, but things get complicated between them. Patrick is not giving up trying to be with Emma without a fight.

Oh Patrick- this story was told from Patrick’s pov. Absolutely loved him and his swoony snarky self! Emma is a good girl for Patrick, she just has trouble getting over her past and letting him in her life. Their relationship was great. And on a side note, I really loved all the brothers and Emma’s gothy, but fabulous roommate Julia.

I love PNR books, but this one wasn’t much on the paranormal side... maybe we’ll get more in the next book. I haven’t read Nicole Williams Eden series, but after reading Patricks story, I can tell you I will be reading them in the near future! An enjoyable book, looking forward to start Fusion! Lets hope Patrick and Emma get the happy ending they deserve! A solid 4 star read for me!!! ...more
