I've been enjoying this series. The books are a perfect length, and the retellings of some of them are truly unique. Also, I find it very easy to get into them, so I can sit down and read one in just an hour or two. Although I've found some of the books...less than stellar (Spirited comes to mind), the last two I've read, Water Song and The Crimson Thread were teriffic.

This was a quick read. I finished it in a couple of hours.
The Crimson Thread was really slow and boring in the beginning
so I stopped reading it for a couple of weeks . . maybe 2 months LOLz!
But I managed to pick it up and read it from where I stopped
because I was in need of a book to read + it was just laying in my room
so I was just like . . "well i might as well get over it" so I just
finished it today ^_^

I truely enjoyed this book. I loved the mixture of genres. It had some very true events from around 1880 such as Irish, German, and many other people migrating to America and factories children had to work at to support their own families. It also had that fairy tale touch to it we all like to hear. Like the happily ever after part of the story. I also love Bertie's (Briget's) character. She's rational and she's ... more of a person than a lot of other characters in this series. She doesn't just

I must say that at times this book can be quite boring. It doesn't have much action or adventure. Still, it was a cute book about making new friends and to not judge a person by their cover. Bridget, who later changes her name to Bertie, moves to America with her family. As they struggle to find work and adapt to their new life style, Bertie runs into a mysterious man named Ray Stalls. As the book continues, Ray turns into what I think as Bertie's best friend. He helps her out in so many ways th

Rumpelstiltskin isn't my usually my favorite fairytale, but this retelling was pretty good. I like this "Once Upon a Time" series because they take a common fairytale and put into a certain historical time period and it's fun trying to guess where the traditional story will come out. This one was put during the early 1900's in New York and Bridget/Bertie and her family are Irish immigrants. I liked it and it had a cute ending - what more can I ask for?
