I found "The Hobbit" a book by J.R.R. Tolkien, to be extremely entertaining and captivating. This book, written from a third person omniscient point of view, is based off of the magical, mythical, and dangerous adventures of a fairy tale creature called a Hobbit. This dynamic main character, Bilbo Baggins, is introduced to a part of his world that he never knew of before. Throughout the book, you'll notice how Bilbo uses his skills to get past quite difficult situations, and find his way towards I found "The Hobbit" a book by J.R.R. Tolkien, to be extremely entertaining and captivating. Throughout the book, you'll notice how Bilbo uses his skills to get past quite difficult situations, and find his way towards becoming a new person.
There is extremely descriptive and "old fashioned" writing techniques used in this book, so if you ever plan on reading it, be sure to take your time in understanding what the characters are trying to express. If you take your time, I promise its rewarding. If you can fully understand what the characters mean to say, you can get a better grip on the book. In addition to this, focus on the description and imagery that is worked into the plot. This book has amazing imagery that makes you feel as if your along with Bilbo on his adventure. J.R.R. Tolkien describes the surroundings and scenery of the places past during the book with elegant detail. For example, whenever a new scene is introduced, Mr. Tolkien is sure to work in details about the setting using descriptive sensory details. An example of this is in the very beginning of the book, when he describes the inside of Bilbos house using words like shiny, comfortable, pleasant, warm and many other interesting details.
There are several interesting perspectives you could take to while reading this book. It could be seen as anything from a child's fairy tale to a young adults adventure book, though it quite depends on the type of reading one personally enjoys.
I found the conflicts and plot described in this book to be fairly interesting and enjoyable to read. I did not grow bored of the plot during any point of the book because of how often a new conflict arrived. Meaning, every time Bilbo and his friends cared for a conflict, a new one would pop up and slowly deliver them deeper into the story.With all its details and fun, though often tragic, bumps and problems in the story, I always had something to look forward to reading next time i picked up my book.
This book was fun, and rewarding to read. I wouldn't be surprised if in future years i choose to read it one again. With an impeccable plot and a golden storyline, i could not be more content with the ending of this wonderful book. If you want to read a light hearted, fun, magical, yet still mature book, be sure to read The Hobbit, I have zero doubt in my mind that you will be sorry. ...more

So far the book is one adventure after another! The dwarves and the hobbit "jumped out of the frying pan and into".... another frying pan! I saw the movie, which is going to be split into 3 parts, so i thought, well they're probably going to put every last detail in order to fit this 270(ish) page book! But no! there's so much they left out! My only possible critique is the fact that i feel none of these adventures mean anything, they're just, adventures with dwarves; getting through the cave fu ...more
