I really enjoyed this one and I loved that it was in the same world as Spin the Dawn. This had more of a fairy tale feel and is loosely based off The Wild Swans and many Asian fairy tales that I am much less familiar with.
“To this day, cranes carry the strands of our fate. They say that each time two people’s paths cross, so do their strands. When they become important to one another or make a promise to one another, a knot is tied, connecting them.”

Six Crimson Cranes was such a unique and interesting YA Fantasy. I really liked Elizabeth Lim's other series (The Blood of Stars) so I'm not surprised that I really enjoyed this one as well. I loved seeing the bond between our main character, the Princess Shiori and her family (especially her six brothers). She would have done anything for them, to save them from their curse (and her own). In this book, you'll find magic, a bit of romance and even dragons!

An amazing experience with a main character with adorable name Shiori.
That’s a totally new perspective on a well-known tale. I recall crying during the whole story when I was little. Though I didn’t cry while reading the book, it was also very emotional.
There wasn’t much world-building as a proper setting was already there, and the rest part was handled perfectly by the author. The created atmosphere is so magical, asian, imperial and visionary.
