This book was recommended to me and while I found the synopsis interesting, I was a bit hesitant... enemies to lovers can go so wrong, especially when they are forced to marry one another, and I didn't want to dislike this. Let me straighten this situation out in case you have the same concerns: This is a slow burn romance!! The leads are honest with each other and respect one another building a strong relationship before they even consider if their partnership might become more.

This was fun.
I would probably never have read it if it hadn't been recommended to me, and I'm so glad it was and I did.
Ildiko is human, with pink skin and red hair.
Brishen is kai, with grey skin and silver hair.
Ildiko thinks Brishen looks like a dead eel; Brishen thinks Ildiko is beyond ugly, with weird, scary eyes.
And they're about to get married.
There are times when you know within a few lines that a book is not for you, and you'd better give up now rather than waste several hours of your li ...more

Wow, this book was so good from start to finish. I can read fantasy but it's not something I really gravitate towards. And possibly, if several of my friend hadn't already read it and raved about it, this would have set on the back burner of my TBR for awhile. I am so glad to have done a group read of this book. I loved both Ildiko and Brishen, such unique characters. I will definitely read on in this series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The romance and the main characters captivated me from the beginning and it was quite an easy and entertaining read. With that epilogue I'm really curious to see what the author has in store for us in the sequel. It's not available on scribd at the moment so I'll see where I can get it tomorrow morning.
That being said I'm hoping the queen will get what she deserves.
