"The Handmaid's Tale" is one of my favorite books that I have read recently, particularly due to the parallels between the social norms in the book and the political events happening today. Atwood uses "extreme" examples of misogyny and anti-human rights sentiments that can be found in the daily news. Even though this is a summer reading assignment, I really enjoyed The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Not only does it express what women struggle with and go through, but it also shows the character getting taken away from the life she used to have, and being put into this new life where she is constantly worried about surviving. You never really know exactly what is going to happen next and you get left at the end with a cliff hanger which nobody truly knows what happens.

I believe that “The Handmaid’s Tale” was overall a quality read that I would recommend to others. In the society we live in today I think it is vital to read this book as an unfortunate reminder of how we are becoming closer to making life in Gilead a sad reality. The Handmaid’s Tale was written pretty well, (a little confusing and difficult in some areas) but is an important read for this generation.
