Grendel is the story of a man-eating monster, famous for his 12-year reign over a village of warriors. Though periodically they try to fight back, Grendel’s strength is always superior. As an observer of man, Grendel’s interpretations lead to insights behind the warrior society. Over time he seems to become the only one who remembers their real history instead of the half-truths the warriors and poets perpetuate to build up egos and confidence for another fight.
