Of the three Morton novels thus far, this latest offering is my third favorite. That doesn't mean it wasn't a great read, just that this particular one for me was a bit too depressing in its wasted potential of human lives. Again, that doesn't mean I'm sorry that I read it. The distant hours is a very long book and it takes a long time for the storyline to develop. They story keeps you guessing to the last chapter what was the answer to the mystery. And when the answer came it wasnt even that interesting so I feel the author let herself down in that regard. overall the book drags and its not one I would recommend to my fellow readers.
