If you're a fan of Robert Drewe (which I am, although I've only read his non-fiction) you'll love this book. It's a series of short chapters on his observations and experiences of the inhabitants - human and animal - of the far north coast of New South Wales, where he lives. Each chapter is a complete story in itself, although the same characters pop up in different parts of the book.
