I am struggling with time to read and it is only late at night in bed that I get the time. I fell asleep a few times reading this book which is a good sign, because I couldn't just stop. With reading over a long period of time the whole feel of the book tends to get lost but in part it was the nature of the book. It had distinct parts before war, after war and during war. Richard Flanagan is a master story teller. I love the way he manages the different threads of the story: the chronology - jumping backwards and forwards in time - was confusing for the first 50 pages or so, then for the rest of the book made perfect sense.
