[close] Five years ago, I started writing. I knew I wanted to write about animal trafficking. And the character of Jack with a special gift came to me.

It is estimated that animal trafficking is a multibillion dollar criminal enterprise which is now attracting some of the worst criminal gangs in the world. Of all the millions of species that live on our planet only one undertakes this type of disgusting behaviour and only one can stop it-us.

However, Talon is about more than just animal trafficking. One of its underlying themes is how certain groups of humans view the other creatures that share this world with us as little more than “things” to be used for their benefit and gratification; hunting animals for fun, getting two dogs to fight to the death- for the watchers enjoyment.

They are so wrong and I was hoping that Talon, in its own small way, may change a few people’s perception on this. Maybe, after reading Talon, when asked to make a donation to a wildlife fund they think, “Yes I should” or maybe, when they decide to cut down a tree which is impinging their view they think, “That might be the home of a Baden so maybe I shouldn’t”- just maybe???

Aside from this, of course, if you enjoy a good read and more than a bit of adventure, this book would be great for you! I hope you will enjoy reading the book as much as I have writing it.
