This book was a pleasant surprise. I'd heard it was rather like contemporary chick lit, except told from the point of view of an man with Asperger's, and so I was a little reluctant to read it. I've read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and The London Eye Mystery, and enjoyed them both, but was a little jaded with this type of voice after too many episodes of The Big Bang Theory. I'm glad I read it, though. Its a feel-good read, with enough intelligence to lift it out of the usu

What a great fast read. Don is such an interesting character ... he is a mixture of Sheldon Cooper (from The Big Bang Theory) and Richard Poole (from Death in Paradise). Pedantic, structured ... unable to understand social situations and cues. This deficiency however provides an interesting narrative or different perspective on situations and is quite humorous and sometimes uncomfortably correct. I am hanging out to read the next one.

Professor Don Tillman is a brilliant geneticist, who has Asperger's. He decides he needs a wife, and devises the Wife Project to help him avoid wasting time meeting the wrong candidates. He is aware of his lack of empathy and his apparent oddness, and has various strategies to make social interaction a little easier.

It seems that a lot of people loved this book, but I wasn't one of them. Sure, there were some funny moments and the writing was slick, but it just wasn't a hit for me. I wasn't surprised in the least to read in the notes from the author that this was originally written as a screenplay. It will probably make a very enjoyable rom com one day.

I enjoyed reading this book. It's quite light and a fun read. It was interesting to see that this started life as a screenplay rather than a novel as you really could see this fitting into the screwball romantic comedy genre.
Don evolves throughout the novel from his very restricted and scheduled life at the start of the novel. Meeting Rosie disrupts his schedules and throws him into disarray and he ends up learning a whole lot more about himself and how he relates to the world around him and oth ...more
