This is the sort of book that when you finish it, you don't want to read anything else for a while as you want to continue to soak in the story and you don't want to dilute it with something trivial. Beautiful, absorbing, needed tissues, felt the joy and sorrow. I think I have always had a liking for lighthouses ... so this book ticked a lot of boxes. It would probably make a good movie, but I could not watch it ... too raw. ...more

The best part of this book was the author's ability to show the inner conflicts of both the main and some subsidiary characters. What a beautifully written book. The story intertwines between the lives of the main characters and you stand on the sidelines as you see what they wanted to achieve and how it all goes wrong and sometimes you can't stop fate. Read the full review at OurBookClub. ...more

It took me a while to get into this, but I did enjoy it once I did. It's slow paced, perhaps that is why it didn't grab me as quickly as I wanted. Here's my review at my blog: http://leatherboundpounds.wordpress.c... ...more

definately review worthy. I'll admit I did adore the setting of Australia - mind you the isolation of the lighthouse still requires a map and a steady handed boat captain with a good boat - to get you even close to the action and whispers. ...more
