Absolutely loved this novel, which is the 2nd in the trilogy about the sleepy little town of Jingera, in southern NSW. We met Zidra and her mum, Ilona, Peter Vincent, and the other wonderful cast of characters in Stillwater Creek. Alison Booth has a wonderful way with words, with the many vivid descriptions of the bush and surrounding areas making you feel you could actually see what she was describing. A nice enough story, but lacking depth. This is the sequel to, Stillwater Creek, which I haven't-and won't-read. If it's anything like this one, I don't know why Booth was offered a 2-book deal. Anyway, it passed the time. There are some potentially good characters, and stories, here. It's such a shame the author didn't put her soapbox aside for five minutes and concentrate on them a bit more. ...more
