This book had a great premise; Chinese mythological figures living and fighting their wars amongst us. The Eastern setting made it a refreshing change from other urban fantasy.

Points off for the heroine's fairly uninteresting inner monologue and sometimes repetitive dialog. And an unsatisfactory ending. There's plenty of action all the way through the book, but it doesn't have the normal climax and resolution. Looks like I'll have to keep reading the series to get my resolution.

Stilted dialogue, awkward descriptions and a Mary Sue that made me want to chew my own arm off, with several supporting characters that were interesting enough to keep me reading to the end! Still not something I'll be reading the sequel to. ...more

Loved it, read it in the bath on New Year's Eve. I'm busting to read the rest in the series, I hope they are out already. There were a few annoying repetitive things, but on the whole, a really fun read. ...more

A bit of a light fluffy good read so far.

What is the author's fascination with Filo women and being maids though? I think she needs to do more research and stop being so narrow-minded.
