A Little Bush Maid is the first novel of the Billabong series, which spans 15 novels published between 1910 and 1942. I was first introduced to them by a friend of mine (the same friend responsible for introducing me to the Obernewtyn Chronicles) when I was about 10 or 11 and when we moved to a new city in 1993, I discovered that the library there possessed all of the series.
