This book follows the trial by judge (not jury!) of Anu Singh, who in Canberra in October 1997 made a bizarre plan to murder her boyfriend following a dinner party at their house. Singh, a law student had oddly told many of her fellow students of her plan, which also included taking her own life - which clearly didn’t transpire. Her friend was also co-accused due to her knowledge and “assistance” in executing Singh’s plan.

Not what I would usually pick up to read, but it was recommended and lent to me by a friend, and I'm glad she did. My biggest takeaway from this book was the conflict between what victims want the justice system to be versus what it actually is. ...more
