I had mixed feelings since I had trouble even getting half-way through the slow-moving fantasy book I had tried to read before it. It was starred less than the Tower of Raven's on goodreads.com but I didn't bother checking before I started.

The novel opens with a girl, who was born and raised in a herd of satyricorns yet looks not at all like any of them, looking for an escape away from all she's familiar with. This also led to a choice which she may not usually make and, unknown to her then, she'll have to atone for. Her hope lies in a herd of winged horses for she needs to fly to avoid capture by the satyricorn herd.
