I first read this novel in 2005 but I didn't continue on with the trilogy. Recently, I found the whole trilogy again in the library and I borrowed all three. I just finished Across the Nightingale Floor again in one sitting and it was as beautiful as I remembered.

good read, really got a sense for this fictional country (pretty much Japan with poetic license)
The book lagged a bit in the middle third, but came back in good form for the dramatic end

I liked it, easy to read, and the story never lags into boredom.
